I have fallen in love with a fancy rodent.

This is Booboo, an American crested blond guinea pig who has the good fortune to live in the Netherlands with very talented young photographer Megan van der Elst. At only 23 (the photographer, not the guinea pig. She’s 2.), van der Elst has already got a terrific eye for fanciful animal and still life photography.

I never would have believed I’d be posting pictures of guinea pigs on my blog, but here they are, and they’re not out of place. This is a seriously cute animal. The photographer describes her pet as lazy, and says if you put her in one place, she’ll stay there until you move her (or she gets hungry). No wonder I feel such a kinship with this creature. It’s like we’re twins.

Booboo and her friends have their own Instagram account, which is not to be missed. There is also a website and a great DeviantArt site, so go have a look!

  2. Ohhhhhhh – isn’t she darling!!!

I love Guinea Pigs and up till 5 years ago I kept them. I loved how they ‘talked’ to me. They lived in a hutch just outside the kitchen window), and they recognised the sound of the fridge door opening – which made them squeak loudly, and if I was chopping something on the chopping board they’d go mental with excitement. Pigs was the correct name for Mavis and Tulip -because PIGGIES is exactly what they were!

  4. She is beautiful and adorable and excellent shots. I have three guinea piggies compliments of my grand children who got them and could”t keep them.

  6. I’ve had GP’s for about 20 years…I just love their little -wheeeek!- 🙂 And I love her pics of them…my Pinterest is full of them.
It’s funny that I found this post because you followed me after reading my post about my newest guinea pigs and I read your About Page and then picked a category at random (NaBloPoMo….I still don’t know what that means!) and this is the first post that showed up. I don’t really WordPress much anymore now that I have another blog on Blogger, but thanks for the follow and the uplifting posts.

    • NaBloPoMo is National Blog Post Month. It’s the tag you use when you’re posting every day for a period of time. Since I haven’t missed a day since I started in February, I thought it seemed appropriate.

I found your post because my post got me interested in guinea pigs, so I went looking for other posts about them! Very glad you stopped by.

  7. I’m still thinking about guinea pigs. Bad timing, I think I’m going to be fostering a cat for a few months.
