Logan Hardcore is even beautiful up close!
On September 6, all the professional sometimes-ladies put on their best finery and walked the runway at the Ice Palace at the Cherry Grove Hotel in Cherry Grove, Fire Island, New York, and once again, my camera and I were there!
I actually promised to post the pics in my post about the Miss Fire Island contest, but I got busy. Whoopsie. Anyway, here are the highlights, but don’t forget to check out my Flickr album for the full set. (Oh, and if that’s not enough for you, everyone else’s Miss Fire Island pictures on Flickr are also pretty fantastic.)
The oldest living Miss Fire Island winners, Charity Charles (1967) and Rita George (1968) kick off the fun
Logan getting her beverage on
The men’s room line is always interesting
Things sometimes get weird
When you glimpse Porsche watching the perfrmers, she’s always smiling. Not true of everyone
For example, get a load of Logan throwing shade from backstage
This was some of the most perfect drag makeup I’ve ever seen. It was so flawless, in person, she looked virtual
I was completely in love with this tattoo
More hilarious attitude from Logan (And who could blame her? That green dress was hypnotic.)
Ms. Cherry Grove Donna Piranha
I am obsessed with this fabric
She was just as stunning in person
And we could not stop taking pictures of this tiny beauty
This gorgeous creature looked like the love child of Adele and John Lithgow‘s trans character from The World According to Garp
Another spectacularly beautiful girl
Eventually, thanks to a bit too much fun, a lot of sun, loads of amazing performances, and some very attentive servers, it gets to be nap time
And our 2014 Miss Fire Island, Brenda Dharling!
I have committed to spending part of every day looking for at least one beautiful thing, and sharing what I find with you lovelies!

Great pics! Wow – you really get around! When I lived in NYC I never, ever got to go to Fire Island but had many, many friends who did… I think I was never invited because I may have been “too straight”. LOL

I’ve been to a couple local drag shows and they are the BEST. So much fun. I love Queens…they have so much confidence. It’s mind boggling.

Smoke and mirrors, but as facades go, it’s certainly fun to look at!

There’s always that girl that gets up in the middle of their lil show and gets a verbal beat down for daring to interrupt. My fav part.

And the girl is always blotto and totally convinced of her own fabulousness based solely on the fact that she is a “real girl.” Dummy.
I’m always sure they’re going to throw her in the pool, but to my knowledge, that hasn’t actually happened. I imagine management has to draw the line somewhere.

Yes! Exactly. But they always find a way to make her look like poo and sit her skinny butt back down. And so eloquently too. Hmm…that’s not scripted is it? (;

this is awesome. I used to go to drag night in St Louis when I lived there and even there it was soo exciting u could feel the difference in the air — and the ladies (“ladies”) were —MAN! —always larger than life!! I never could understand how some of them (some of the really larger-than-life [lit]) were so flexible, nimble—light on their feet. one girl, Dietta Coke, she could stretch all the way back and touch the floor...in HEELS!
