Etsomnia™ Volume XIX: ET(somnia) Phone Home

Super-classy iPhone dock and drinks holder.  (Rusting trailer and yard full of car parts not included.)

et·som·ni·a (/etˈsämnēə/), noun, 1. a sleep disorder caused by obsessive Etsy browsing. 2. the surprising arrival of weird handmade merchandise ordered in one’s sleep.

Happy Thursday! It’s Etsomnia time once again. I have a brand-spanking-new IPhone (you know you’re jealous!) AND work has just given me a new Blackberry Q10. Therefore, while I don’t have any idea how to work my new electronics, I can take comfort in knowing it’s phone accessory shopping time!

As usual, links to the items for sale appear below each picture. For more Etsy fun, check out all my weekly Etsomnia™ posts.

World's most tragic phone pouch

If you’re concerned that someone will want to steal your $500 phone, this pouch ought to keep ’em away. Far, far away.

This claims to be a sheep phone charm. I see no evidence to support that theory.

This claims to be a sheep phone charm. I suspect the maker doesn’t know what a sheep is.

  1. maybe the charging station. The shoes are funny, but what color…? And the leather and wool pouch looks absolutely practical and useful.

  2. Some of these leave me speechless; and not in a good way… That Altoids thing is kinda awesome. 🙂

  3. My reactions ranged from I want that (the Chat Noir) to laughter to “Seriously?”!! 🙂

  4. I have a large size print of the black cat tournament–because I have a black cat, and collecting things with black cats on them became a minor obsession.

  5. Two notes. First, earlier today I was thinking, “isn’t it time for a new Estomnia? I need that special Donna snark.”

Second, when I was in my late teens and early twenties, I worked in the summers and lived with my grandmother in San Antonio. There is a fabulous museum in San Antonio called the McNay. http://www.mcnayart.org/about/about-the-mcnay/ I went there all the time to escape my pedestrian life and the museum had one of the prints of Le Chat Noir. (It looks like it’s still in the collection but not currently on display.)

I loved it and bought a small copy in the gift store, which I displayed and treasured until it fell apart.

Thank you for the snark. And thank you for reminding me about the print and the museum, which is still my fantasy mansion (that or the Laguna Gloria, also now a museum, here in Austin. http://www.thecontemporaryaustin.org/visit/ )
