Are we there yet?
Today, bestie and I are going to explore the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Last year was our first show, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I’m most excited about touring the DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) Dining by Design exhibition at Pier 92. That was really the highlight for me last year.
I’m extra jazzed because this is my first time going AS PRESS! Of course, once my credentials were approved, I also found myself replying to roughly 1,000 emails from vendors explaining “I’m only a blogger, so it probably doesn’t make sense for your CEO to take me for a ride on her private plane or buy me a pony.” But even that was kind of fun.
As usual, I’m going to take lots of pictures and notes, and I’ll post a couple of roundups of what I saw. I also plan on using the product lines which strike me as the most inspiring and creative as future OBTs, so keep an eye out for those, too!
In the meantime, here are a few pictures I found on Flickr of previous DIFFA Dining by Design events. See why I’m so thrilled to be going?

Those pictures are amazing, congrats on being “important” for at least a little bit. Maybe the Restoration Hardware folks will wine and dine you for the evening.

You shouldn’t think if yourself as “just a blogger.” Your contributions should not be underrated because this is the new media. You are reaching people that may or may not engage with traditional media. Though I understand your reluctance to use your position to garner any “perks”, you should feel comfortable doing it in at least a small scale–no jet rides, but maybe some extra special swag….
Have a good time at the show.

Agree with Anthony. Lap it up, sister, and have no shame doing so!

I had a blast. Now I am wining, to be followed by dining. Eventually to be followed by posting.

Damn it. That was supposed to say post(s?) because I would marvel if you could limit yourself to just one… 😉

I was afraid if I posted too much, i would lose subscribers, so one tonight, and one tomorrow.
