I discovered The Staves on a friend’s Facebook page, and I’m hooked. This is some of the most flawless live harmony I’ve ever heard. I wanna be a Stave! Unfortunately, it’s a group you need to be born into. They are sisters from Watford, Hertfordshire, England, which may be at least part of why their voices fit together so perfectly. It gives me chills!

These are some of the tightest harmonies I’ve ever heard (and I listen to a LOT of singing!). I find myself moved to tears every time I listen because it is such perfect music. I hope you enjoy them as much as I am.

Just beautiful, i hadn’t heard of The Staves before now. They are amazing and i will be checking them out some more.

Such beautiful voices, their harmonies seem almost instinctual. It probably stems from the fact that they grew up together and probably sing together at home quite often.

I assumed the same. Can you imagine growing up in that house? When I made music, I made it alone.

Danielle was the music maker at our house. She started out in 3rd grade with one of those plastic recorders, then went on to clarinet, saxophone, guitar, flute, the jazz band, and so on. Her music is beautiful now, she has taught herself how to play so many instruments, and is even in a band, but we still laugh about the recorder concerts. They were every parents come-uppence, the screeching of instruments, none of the kids playing the same song at the same time, and all the strained looks on the parents faces (until their kid looked at them…then they did the golf clap and grinned like an idiot). It was torture then, but funny now.

I sang before I could talk. No instruments until high school, though. Taught myself to play guitar because the HS folk group didn’t need singers but they would take you if you could play. I was never without the guitar for all of high school, but kind of lost interest by the time I was 18. I wish I had kept it up.

It looked like a living room concert, so I assume it was by invitation only. Sure would have been amazing to have been there.
