When this sofa popped up in my Etsy feed, I thought, oh, goodie! Etsomnia fodder! But the longer I looked at it, and the more I looked around NameDesignStudio‘s shop, the more I realized how well designed it all is. I also realized all the exuberantly interesting color combinations were actually cheering me up.
The furniture immediately reminded me of “Ugly Betty,” (which is fantastic, and if you didn’t watch it, go fix that now!), but in all the best ways.
These folks are not afraid of color, and their furniture makes a bold – I mean BOLD – statement. But I can see it working in the right setting. If it’s one-of-a-kind, handmade statement pieces with loads of personality you’re searching for, your search is over. Their pieces are definitely not for everyone, but even if you don’t want to live with them, they sure are fun to look at!

I love these designs. I must start drawing some chairs. I am always looking for comfortable chairs because I have a bad back. These chairs have the height that my poor back needs. Thanks for your post; as always very interesting.

Hi Donna,
That chaise is fabulous. I can’t make my mind up between that and the smiley chair.
Great find.
Cheers

I agree! I was delighted to see these things in my Etsy feed. I have no idea what their algorithm looks like, but every so often, it turns up pure genius!

I love the Thonet chair, too. I could see it being part of a really cute and fun bistro set.

Like you, my initial thought was that my eyes were being assaulted by just too much of everything but in under a minute I had been won over to their visual charms – and they look very comfy too. I tend to keep my furniture, walls and floors self-coloured so that I can have pattern, images and colour in the art work on the walls and the object I have around. If I was the other way around, however, then I would be coveting these chairs.

They’d need a fairly blank canvas, and a large one at that, to keep from being overly fussy. But if I ever get to decorate one of those half-industrial lofts in Soho, I’m going straight to them!

Oh they would be perfect for a loft. The lush fabrics would be a wonderful contrast to rough brickwork and industrial piping.

Love it. Ugly Betty was the first show I binge watched on Netflix years ago.

It’s a good thing my cat can’t be trusted with upholstery, or I would have just spent a ton of money!!! These are wonderful!
