This week’s musical obsession is a little frustrating for me. Usually, I put new music in my walking playlist and it’s the soundtrack to my commute for a few days. This week, however, the music’s time signature is so bizarre, I’m afraid if I try to walk to it, I’ll break something. That is not even really a joke. This is Dave Brubeck’s classic “Unsquare Dance,” and it’s not for the weak of ankle. I have no idea who these adorable creatures are skipping around to it, but they’re killing it!

And here’s some super-cool cats with a more modern take inspired by the same piece by Brubeck.

  1. Superb! I have an image of you doing a funny John Cleese style walk to work! I am taking this to school to share with our dance club they will love it! and have sent the link to a fried who teaches modern dance and drama at home in NZ

While you enjoy searching for one thing of beauty a day I know I am going to enjoy watching each one each night! Thanks so much

  2. Oh my goodness! Blast from the past. I have not heard that piece of music in a few years and it has been many moons since I last saw that video clip. I think the modern version is very cool and skillful, possibly technically stronger, but it doesn’t have the same charm and WTF allure of the vintage version.

PS What was the name of that novel you recommended to me that was set in a freakshow? I am going on a short vacation with the husband and thought it might be just the right book to read.
