A Farewell to 2015

We’re finally saying farewell to 2015. Out in the world, some of it was wonderful, some of it was terrible, and most of it was somewhere in between. But here in the blogosphere, 2015 was a ton of fun! And I had so much fun with my year-end roundup last New Year’s Eve, I thought I’d do it again.

Before I get too far into my year-end post, I want to say something to you (yes, YOU!). It’s been a real pleasure and a privilege to write for you wonderful people. Makes me feel like I’m putting out something good into the world. And your support, your likes, your comments, all keep me from feeling like I’m talking to myself. Thank you!!!!

The two blogging highlights of my year were the day I submitted my trademark application for Etsomnia™ and the day I finally decided on a URL and moved the blog over to myonebeautifulthing.com!

There were loads of beautiful things this year (365 to be exact). Things like glass and illustration and sculpture, photography and video, animation and fashion and shiny things. There were animals and children and creatures from the deep. There was dance and music and performances. There were heartbreaking stories, some of them personal, and (thank heaven) above all, there was humor. (If I had to pick the post that made me the happiest, it would have to be that one.)

Here are a few more of my faves:

Miracle at Gate A-4 (Cross-cultural kindness)

Nice Ride! (Costumes for handicapped children)

Cover Story (Middle-aged guys realize their dream)

The Greatest Gift of All (Giving up my first daughter)

The Arms of the Angels (Iliza Shlesinger’s prostitute dog)

A Troubled Young Man (The music and suicide of Nick Drake)

In the matter of Obergefell v. Hodges (My favorite day of 2015)

Etsomnia™ Volume XLIX: Death by Bedazzling (Shiny things)

Real Estate Bathroom Humor (Must be seen to be believed)

Eileen Kramer, the First Hundred Years (The creative soul who refuses to get old)

Here’s Facebook’s 2015 roundup. I think they did a pretty good job this year.

I wish us all a safe New Year’s Eve and a happy, healthy, creative 2016!

Note: Etsomnia™ will return next week, bigger and badder than ever!
