People give JLo a hard time, but I confess I’ve always enjoyed her. Even in her worst movies (that’s right, Gigli, I’m talking to you), she still manages to be charming and captivating, and she’s actually got pretty decent acting chops, given half the chance. Her music, while strictly rooted in the pop genre, is generally catchy and very listenable. Even if her songs won’t make it to your top 10, her voice is really very good. Her dancing is flawless, she’s glorious to look at, and I think she is a fair and thoughtful American Idol judge. I find it impossible not to like her.

Her new single, Ain’t Your Mama, is super fun and exceptionally catchy, and I think it’s going to be one of the big singles of the summer of 2016. So I was thrilled to discover the music video for the single is every bit at likeable as the song.

My favorite bit (starting at about 4:08) is modern-day JLo dancing her amazing ass off (amid a crowd of sensibly-shod dancers) while wearing insane $4000 Rihanna for Manolo Blahnik waist-high boots (which I actually think are kind of ugly). Shoe situation aside, the choreography and performance are spectacular. The woman is a marvel.
