What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

The (Wednes)Day the Music Died

Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox

It is time to say goodbye to music on Wednesdays. Since my regular weekly music discovery posts weren’t a success (at least according to my WordPress stats), the feature is going bye-bye. On the other hand, now music can pop up anytime I want!

So since today marks the end of music discovery Wednesdays, we’re going out with a bang.

I’ve posted delicious retro-style covers by Postmodern Jukebox before, but I think the group’s smoky, sultry cover of “Black Hole Sun” wins the prize for best reimagining. Soundgarden definitely never sounded this sexy!

I have committed to spending part of every day looking for at least one beautiful thing, and sharing what I find with you lovelies!

  3. Haley Reinhart has had me since she preformed “House of the Rising Sun” on American Idol…here’s the ciip (performance starts at 42 secs): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ts9oMPpvJew

I think her best ever performance with PMJ has been “Seven Nation Army” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sB6HY8r983c

Personally I loved your music Weds….nothing better than discovering new music to enjoy!

  4. I’ve never liked that song – until now. I love this version. Her vocal quality really appeals to me too.

Confession: I found I often skipped your music posts but always intending to come back and listen later. I tend to do things like blog reading on the fly on my phone when I have an odd spare minute in the day. As such, sometimes I would read your music blog posts at a time when I couldn’t commit the time to listen to the video or – and this was more often the case – I was doing something noisy so needed to wait for quiet. Sometimes I would remember and go back and listen but often I forgot. I wonder if that might be a similar context for many of your other otherwise devoted readers. Your posts have, however, led to new musical discoveries for me (and the husband) so I’m glad you will still be sharing music on here.

    • That’s a pretty good theory. I think the predictability may have contributed to it as well. Even Beloved, who tries to remember to read my posts, was regularly skipping Wednesdays because she wasn’t interested. As she said, “If it’s good, you’ll add it to our playlists, so I’ll hear it anyway.”

  6. When I was working I didn’t listen to the music. I’d been told that our IT department could tell if you were watching videos.
