It’s cold and yucky out, but our Fire Island house rental begins in exactly 10 weeks, and I’m dreaming of the wonderful adventures this summer will bring. So when I saw the art of Bo Bartlett, I was instantly captivated. They remind me a bit of the work of Kenton Nelson, only more candid-looking, and a little less stylized.

I am really drawn to their retro feel and the fresh, simple way he portrays his subjects. His paintings look to me like summer feels, and I love that about them. Are we there yet?

  1. Gorgeous! Exactly what I needed on the first of March and we head into our snowiest month. (Are you X-ing out days on a big calendar?)

  3. This art makes me very happy, especially the first picture with the bicycle! I have a bicycle just like that one, only pink and it is called a beach comber.

  4. They are all wonderful but I’m very drawn to the band on the boat, however I think my favorite is the bucket. Thanx. ~~dru~~

  5. Those are frightful waves to be tackling in a rowboat and are those small icebergs in the background of the painting of the band in a boat? My favourite is the view out the window. I would have put the beach stone on the windowsill.

  6. These are superb paintings. They remind me very much of the work of Winslow Homer.
