A friend sent me information about this exhibit a few days before it closed, but I was unable to attend. Drove me positively batty. So after sulking for a bit, I decided to write about it instead. But I’m still a little sulky.

This is the “A Walk of Art: Visionary Shoes,” presented at New York’s Parasol Gallery by the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem. All the shoes in the exhibit were created by students and alums of the Academy, and they have convinced me that I need to go to Jerusalem and go back to school!

“What’s interesting about these works is that they look at this line between fashion and art, It’s trying to look at shoes as a springboard for art and design inspiration.” -Exhibit curator Ya’ara Keydar

In other words, if a shoe can’t be walked on, is it still a shoe? That’s debatable, but as art, they were certainly a hit. In fact, one collector even made a generous offer to purchase the entire collection, but the students refused to sell. So cute. And young.
