Today, we’re looking at the whimsical street art by Nikita Nomerz. He spends his time wandering Russia, searching for abandoned buildings. He then turns the derelict structures from unloved to thoroughly loveable. By using the structures’ existing features and color palettes, Nomerz makes these striking transformations in remarkably short periods of time, sometimes painting for as little as an hour. He’s clearly working smart, not hard!

You can follow Nomerz on his website.

  1. I always wonder what these people do to get money and afford doing this type of art. It is fun to look at.

  2. Awesomeness! I love this. Can you imagine rounding the corner to find a giant peeking out of a door at you? Some of these might be one-hour projects, but some of the 3-D stuff must have taken a lot of work. They’re stunning.

  3. I love the guy peering out from inside a doorway. And the hands coming out of the silos. All of them are really cool. I’d love to see these, but since the odds are long that I’ll ever go there, I thank you for sharing them here!

  5. Amazing, but also a tad creepy. Well, I guess art is supposed to inspire discussion.

  6. These are such incredible fun. I love that he is taking things that are derelict, forgotten, and moribund and is bringing them to life in a way that I assume makes passersby smile. We need more of this sort of stuff in the world.
