Happy New Year, my lovelies! Beloved and I have had the good fortune to spend the last few days with some of our favorite people in a glorious rental house on Long Island, cooking for each other, laughing, watching movies, playing games, and generally getting up to shenanigans. I feel entirely refreshed and ready(ish) to greet the new year.
I wanted to share with you a little of that wonderful feeling by playing you a song by the always-lovely Pentatonix.
Wishing us all a happy, healthy, productive 2018, as filled with beauty as we can make it!

Here…is to a great new year.
Have I told you how much I like the lead picture of the boat? I do! Might have to sketch and paint.

I’m so glad you like it! I took that photo in Jamaica Bay on our first kayak trip after Hurricane Sandy.

happy new year! we spent the last morning of 2017 at the emergency vet clinic with one of our cats; he’s still there, many issues, so we’re ending/starting off the year in a very rocky way…that song was so cheerful and uplifting, it’s just what i needed right now! whenever i make the time to read your posts (and i always save them and have a huge backlog to read, but eventually i get around to it), they’re always so great in so many different ways, you do such wonderful work! thanks for that!

Oh, Grace, I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. That’s so sad. It’s very kind of you to say such nice things about my blog when you’re having such a hard time. It means a lot to me to hear that it brings people some comfort. Wishing you better days and a very happy new year.

Of course. We lost our Maine Coon a few years ago, and I still haven’t recovered. It’s a terrible decision to have to make.
