James Brunt
I have long been a fan of cairns and mandalas. There’s just something peaceful and spiritual about them, like they’re tributes to the natural world. And nobody does them better than U.K.-based artist James Brunt. He collects twigs and leaves and rocks of all sizes, and arranges them in amazingly-pleasing shapes and patterns. Brunt then takes artful pictures of his creations before nature and wind and weather reintroduces chaos to the scene.
If you find yourself in Yorkshire, England, keep an eye on the artist’s social media. He sometimes invites the public to join him while he works.
You can follow Brunt on his website and on Twitter and Facebook. And you can buy prints of his work in his Etsy shop.

Yes it would. I sent the link to your blog to a friend of mine in MD that likes to draw mandalas.

Aren’t they lovely? Makes me want to wander out into nature and start gathering stones.

This post came at the perfect time. I’ve been collecting rocks to decorate my backyard. I know I want to use them but I’m not sure exactly WHAT to do with them. I know I can’t do anything like this but it certainly inspires me to think outside the box. 🙂

That sounds like a fantastic idea! I’ll bet you could design something like his work only more permanent.

How beautiful! I do not have the patience to create mandalas even on paper let alone to set them out using natural finds amid the wind and rain. My kids and I have occasionally built cairns or mini-henges from rocks but super-duper basic compared to these wonderful works of natural art.

I love making cairns on the beach, but they’re far from art!

LOVE this! There is an artist in Maine who does a lot of “sculptures” on the beaches with rocks and art. I love coming across them when I visit. ❤
