Etsom·ni·a (/etˈsämnēə/), noun, 1. a sleep disorder caused by obsessive Etsy browsing. 2. The surprising arrival of weird handmade merchandise ordered when one is only half conscious. (True story.) 3. An excuse for me to be an obnoxious, snarky New Yorker once per week.

Today marks my 250th Etsomnia™ post (!), so I thought today could feature some of the wonderful (and terrible) things I found on Etsy for $250. I looked at thousands of items for this week’s post, and there were many thousands I didn’t get to. This one was a true labor of love; there was the usual bad jewelry, unfortunate fashion, crazy hats, the dolls alone were enough to give me (Laura, don’t click the link) nightmares, and some of the art was pretty vile. But as always, there were quite a few real beauties, too. I had fun with this one!
For more Etsy fun, check out all my weekly Etsomnia™ posts!
There are some real gems here and some serious horrors. I think the human face hat might be the most troubling Etsy item I have ever seen. The FBI should automatically investigate anyone who purchases that. Of course, the most horrific thing might be what I assume is a clown in the link you warned me against clicking. The best I can say about many of these items is that $250 is overpricing them.
You are correct about the link I warned you off of, and I 1000% agree about that hat. Sheesh. Agreed about the price in most cases, though there were some real bargains in the vintage jewelry category I just didn’t have room for.
Some of the items could definitely justify the price tag. I feel like I browse Etsy and think some people are underpricing and are probably making bupkis profit whereas other people are definitely placing too much value on their wares.
That is certainly the case with some of them. A few of these pieces, though didn’t cost much to make and didn’t take a long time. The sellers are just overvaluing the worth of, for example, a necklace with plastic beads and baby shoes.

Congratulations with your first 250 Etsomnia posts, Donna 😀
The painted bag at the jacket is beautiful. For the rest, I don’t have so much to say.

Thank you! It was a pretty mixed lot, I know. Lots to take in (and lots to force back out).

Neither do I, believe me. Don’t worry. I’m admiring the costume from afar.

Beautiful products. They are expensive because those are handmade pieces which is time consuming. Mass production cost less.
