NOTE: For some reason, the post I wrote about the lovely Howie is nowhere to be found. Instead, WordPress published my initial note to myself. What a colossal bummer. Unfortunately, I haven’t time to fully recreate it, so I’m going to leave you with this brief description.

Friend and neighbor Jess told me about the darling Howie, a female rainbow crab living in Omaha Nebraska. This may sound crazy, but since my introduction to the creature, I’ve found myself checking in on her pretty regularly. It was a real nail-biter of a week in Howie’s world. She was molting, and at the age of 8, that process can be fatal. Happily, she pulled through, and we all learned something new.
