Natura Ceramica

Under the name Natura Ceramica, Ukrainian artists Andriy and Olesya Voznicki create huge, organic-looking sculptures that feel like they were unearthed rather than made. I am especially drawn to their series featuring recycled oak shingles that look like they’re being slowly consumed by rock-like shapes. They give the impression that the shingles are slowly being consumed by the ceramic elements,, giving them a feeling of ancient history and seeming to celebrate Earth’s power to reclaim its natural state.

“The inspiration for the vases comes from both ancient Carpathian architecture and modern bionic design. The use of old shingle roofs that have their own history adds a sense of nostalgia and a connection to the past.”
