It took me 50 years, but I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up. (Not a joke, unfortunately.) I want to be a professional blogger. This goofy creation of mine is my favorite thing, and I need to figure out how to monetize it so I can retire in a few years and do this full time. I’m not in any kind of hurry, but it would make me happy to know that it’s an option when the time comes.
Accordingly, I’ve decided to attend a blogging conference and see whether I can get some pointers. I know that this year’s BlogHer conference is actually taking place in New York in July, so that seems like a natural choice. But before I fork over the big bucks, I wanted to ask whether any of you had any suggestions. Do you attend blogging conferences? If so, which ones have you attended? Which are the most worthwhile?

I have no idea how to make a living with a blog. I think you have an eye for things people would like to see and read about. You also present it in a most consumable way. I think you are on to something. Wishing you the best with this.

you have a pretty good eye for etsy stuff. if you could enable eCommerce features on your page, you might have a start there. (Plus, I know quite a bit about WordPress web hosting, so ask away if you wish!)
Best of luck! I’d think that bloggers would more gravitate to forums than actual conferences on a regular basis; they’re cheaper and you don’t have to leave your keyboard at home! ^__^V

Donna, I know that the BlogHer conference offered self guided study courses as a cost effective alternative to actually attending the conference last year. I’ve never been, but have always followed the updates. Best of luck to you! 🙂
