The work of North Carolina-based glass artist Shane Fero popped into my feed on a very busy day. Though I was pressed for time, I just had to stop and appreciate his sweet forms and adorable shapes and beautiful finishes. Since he began his career as an artist in 1992, his glass work has been featured in 33+ solo exhibitions and more than 400 group show all over the world. Fero’s work is in the permanent collection of over 30 museum collections worldwide.
In addition to his amazing work, like many of my favorite glass artists, Fero is generous with his experience and knowledge, and his classes fill up as soon as they’re announced. It’s so interesting that in the glass world, more, it seems, than in any other medium, the culture of mentorship and sharing of knowledge is so prevalent. No wonder I love glass the best!
Though most of his shapes are very simple, he still manages to communicate such intelligence and alertness in his birds’ forms. And the colors and patterns within their glass bodies are just magnificent!
NOTE: after writing this post, I realized I had profiled Fero and his magnificent glass works previously, but his work is such a delight, I decided to just do it again!
You can see all of Shane Fero’s darling glass work on his website and on Instagram and Facebook.

They’re probably pretty hardy, but I do know what you mean.
