Sculptor and paper artist Lorraine Corrigan describes herself as ‘living the simple life in West Wales.’ If her work is any way to judge, she’s been very successful in her efforts to relax with her sighthounds who are also her muses, obviously. F.Y.I. (since I had to look it up), a sighthound is a hound dog breed which was specifically bred to hunt independent from their humans, like greyhounds and whippets. A self-taught artist, Corrigan has perfected her own technique using wire, glue, and layers of paper rescued from recycled books. Her technique results in solid works of art which she can them further carve and manipulate to create her lovely, life-like-looking dogs.
You can see all of Lorraine Corrigan’s wonderful dog sculptures on her website and on Instagram and Facebook.

As an avid reader, I love that the sculptures are made from book pages. It also adds a really appealing visual texture. I also like the sense of movement in each sculpture. Thanks for the explanation of what a sighthound is as I had never heard that term before.

Such a random-seeming grouping of dogs…
