I live for things like this… In the town of Mathura in northern India, villagers are knitting giant sweaters to keep rescued elephants warm during winter. The sweaters even cover the animals’ legs, so the whole project is reminding me a bit of Etsomnia™… The beasties all live at the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation & Care Center, which takes in rescued elephants saved from rough working conditions where they suffered neglect and daily beatings. They’re happy and healthy now, and with their colorful jumpers, they’re really brightening up the joint!
The knitting villagers told the Daily Mail that each sweater takes them about 4 weeks to produce, but they say it’s a labor of love. I adore this story!

It never has and probably never would have crossed my mind that elephants in their natural environment might get cold and benefit from an extra layer. I could, however, not possibly love this more. They look so cute!

They do! I think they have what Project Runway would call “fit issues” but I love the idea and their droopy pants and giant buttons make me happy.

If you can’t dress for comfort as an elephant then nobody can!
