(Indoor) Dog camper by Straight Line Designs

2/3/19: Every year, London’s St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel plays host to the BowWow Hause London dog house design show and auction. Benefiting the UK-based animal charity Blue Cross, the show features 60+ one-of-a-kind designer dog homes created by a mix of celebrities, renowned architects, artists and designers.

The show is held every April, and raises thousands of dollars (pounds) for the charity. Inspired by some of the entries I found, I thought today I would share my faves, alongside a number of great designs from other sources as well. Enjoy!

        Aw, thanks.

It is less occupied now. Used to be home to, in addition to three Dogs, ten Parakeets. Two were my Mother’s (may she rest in peace and Bless her Spirit). When one of her two Parakeets passed away, I became concerned for the survivor as I knew that Parakeets were more social in nature. I shared my concern with my Aunt. My Aunt then did her magick. Note: my Aunt lives in Kansas and I’m South-Central Pennsylvania, so when I say she did some kind of magick, yes, that involved a bit of homework but still long-distance. She emailed me her successful find and solution for the surviving Parakeet. A rescue rehoming of seven Parakeets! Eventually, the original survivor Parakeet did pass away of old age.

The rescued Parakeets pulled a neat trick on me, which I had zero intention for – two Parakeets decided to bring into the world three MORE Parakeets. I was completely shocked, unprepared and clueless, so I had to do at least some minimal crash-course in Parakeet babies. Fortunately for me, Mom and Dad Parakeets had the whole business under control (well, of course they would, right?!). heh The babies are one of my most fond memories of the Parakeets.

Another quite fond memory I have of the Parakeets was when one day I purchased some Kale. I had read that Parakeets sometimes will like to nibble on Kale. Well, one of the male Parakeets decided he liked the Kale, a lot. But not for eating purposes. Rather for showering purposes. He put himself under the wetted Kale, sort of wrapped himself in the hanging Kale, and fluttered his wings with great, joyful purpose. heh His name was Pappa Winter because he and his mate both had snow-white coloring on their shoulders.

A couple of years ago by now, the last two passed away. These were all older Birds by the time they came into my life. But I decided that I had done enough to honor my Mother’s wishes and retired myself from Bird care-giving. I do believe that any being what has wings and can fly, really ought not be in a cage. And although the Animal-residents are far fewer these days, I keep them in my memory (of course) and in my sign-off. 🙂

Sorry for the long’ish reply, but I hope you enjoyed the retelling.

Wishing you and yours all good Blessings…

What a wonderful story! I love that you adopted seven and then got surprise babies. And the kale bath is going to stick with me! Thank you, my dear. Very entertaining!

Lovely! I’m enchanted by the mosaic houses, but that barn door sideboard is so discreet and functional. I’d love to attend this in person!
