3/10/15: Mason Wartman left a computer job on Wall Street to start his own pizza parlor in Philadelphia. The way he tells it, one day, a customer was in getting a slice and asked whether homeless people ever came in. Wartman said yes, they sometimes did, and the customer left some money to buy a slice for someone who needed it. Impressed, the proprietor told a few people about the customer’s idea, and it caught on (in a big way).
Today, I’d like to celebrate the thoughtfulness of strangers. I’m glad Mason Wartman had the urge to open his business and the sense to help this idea catch on, and I’m glad there are still people in the world willing to do something kind without any reward. And although it wasn’t technically Wartman’s idea, it takes an unusual man to invite the homeless into his store, so I’m grateful for his strength of character, too.
P.S. I have a family member who could use your prayers and good thoughts, so please send them along. Thanks!

Thank you. That note was from 2015, and we can’t remember who needed the prayers, but we’ll take it!
