Did you know that the U.K. House of Commons has historically included a cat? I guess it makes sense that a structure so sprawling and old would need defense from mice, but in typical English style, this beastie is not just one of the help. Attlee the Cat, the Maine Coon named for former Prime Minister Clement Attlee, is an important member of Westminster. While Attlee (the cat, not the former PM) is in fact owned by Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle and his wife Lady Catherine, the fancy feline divides his time between Westminster and Sir Lindsay’s parliamentary home in Chorley. Attlee is also regularly loaned out for mousing duties to other MPs as needed.
You can follow the Very English adventures of Attlee the Cat on his Instagram. You can also purchase official Attlee merchandise from the Houses of Parliament shop. Obviously.

A Maine Coon seems perfect for this role since they always look so self-assured and maybe even a tad self-important.
