I don’t know if you know this about me, but after I have posted about something, I like to explore what other bloggers are posting about the something, too. So on Thursdays, I load up Etsy posts in my reader and go to town. There are many Etsy makers on WordPress, and most of them are really talented. One in particular has been blowing me away week after week, and I just had to share.
Meet aLexLibris. Based in Serbia and headed up by their chief bookmaker Alex, they make and sell the most creative, the most gorgeous, the most incredible blank books I’ve ever seen. They also sell a select few other items, including flasks and ring binders. The items are goth in sensibility, but in the very best way. Sure, there are quite a few coffins and pentagrams and spiders, but everything’s so tastefully done that features that would seem campy or ridiculous on someone else’s work are just beautiful elements in these pieces.
According to their website, the makers are descendants of generations of fine bookmakers. They also express their intention to train the next generation in their craft. That would be a fascinating apprenticeship!
If you would like to purchase their stunning wares or just read more about them, head over to their Etsy shop. Their prices range from $55 to nearly $500, but even that doesn’t seem outrageous for something so beautifully made.

They are, but since they’ll likely outlive us, I think they’re worth it!

The silver flas, and both purple books are my favorite. I love the actual life like (I guess I mean the item looks like it’s actually been used from the time period it’s depicting) real world ware to it.

I’m feeling very “Game of Thrones” or “Lord of the Rings” after seeing these… Do you have to wear a linen robe tied at the waist with a rope to own one of these??
