Snail Girl Ceramics

Ceramicist Grace, A.K.A. Snail Girl, creates little, thoroughly-adorable ceramic things, and I want to collect them all! She says her shop name was inspired by the thoughtfulness of snails.

“While I was in high school, I experienced my first of many depressive episodes and had no idea what to do. During that time, I met Neil, my first garden snail. Neil taught me to go at my own pace, see vulnerability as growth, and find beauty in simple everyday moments. Through Neil, I learned the important lesson of patience and perspective, as seen in the artwork I create. The many chairs, homes, and vegetables depicted in my pieces represent mental health and personal growth through waiting. Whether it be sitting in waiting rooms, waiting to feel better, waiting for the medication to work, waiting for others, or perhaps waiting for yourself.”

– About Snail Girl

Grace says she first felt inspired by the creatures when she met Neil, a garden snail, during one of what was to be come many depressive episodes. She found that their slow pace taught her to take her time and enjoy the creative process. Snail Girl Ceramics is an expression of patience, reflection, and self love through clay. In addition to her marvelous birds and other small objects, Grace has a series of little jars that adorably illustrate what’s going on beneath the surface.

You can see all of Snail Girl Ceramics charming work on her website and on Instagram.

If you’re having trouble seeing the Instagram embeds below, I recommend you just go to Grace’s Instagram and see her wonders for yourself. They’re really not to be missed.

The pieces are delightful but I am even more charmed and touched by the lessons to be learned from a humble garden snail.

Grace’s work is adorable. I know that I am late to the snail girl party, but I’m following her Insta and hope to snag some ornaments later this year.
