One of the most iconic things to do in NYC during the holidays is to attend the Radio City Music Hall’s annual Christmas Spectacular. For obvious reasons, the live show wasn’t held in 2020, but YouTuber Jonathan Lane decided we all needed a little Christmas anyway. He cobbled together a number of performances from past shows to make his own version of the show. While the video isn’t the best quality, you still get a pretty good idea of what’s going on onstage. Even taking into account the imperfect videography and the jumping around, it’s still a pleasure to watch.
You can see a number of past Radio City Christmas Spectacular performances on Jonathan L. Lane’s YouTube.

I would love to attend one of the Christmas shows some time. Maybe one year we will actually organize ourselves and do it, perhaps when we are empty nesters since my kids aren’t particularly into this kind of thing.

It’s really something. A million years ago, I used to have to go every year with some people I despised, and it totally ruined the magic of the show for me. I came to despise the thing. But now I look at it with new (older) eyes, and I can appreciate it again.

Isn’t it strange how that happens? I’m so glad you can appreciate it now, though.

Me, too. I feel like I wasted a lot of time thinking I was above things that could have been bringing me joy.
