Usually, when I start a draft post about a musician or group, it’s a link and the artist’s name. On rare occasions, I’ll include commentary for myself like “great vocals” or “sounds like Ella” or “wow!”. This particular time, my comment was simply “Holy shit.” I stand by that review. Today, we’re rolling in the deep along with Cyn Electric’s vocals and her band, The Kidd Eletric. Holy shit indeed. This young performer can do justice to powerhouse singers like Pat Benatar, , Chrissie Hynde, Debbie Harry, and Ann Wilson.
Cyn makes my skin twitch in the very best way. She’s got the sound I would have slavishly followed everywhere in the early eighties. If I didn’t know that she’s only in her 20s, I’d swear I saw her perform at CBGB way back when. She’s making me feel like my old baby punk self, and even though I know it’s an illusion and I’m just a puffy old broad in her sixties, I love what her music is doing for my inner twenty-something. She makes me want to pogo around a crowded dance floor and make poor personal decisions. Thank you, Cyn, for this rare visit from punky young adult Donna. She was fun!
