Today, I’m thrilled to bring you the soulful music of The Bengsons, made up of wife-and-husband team Abigail & Shaun Bengson. They went viral with their original “The Keep Going Song,” which became something of a pandemic battle cry for many. I’m not usually a fan of voices with fast vibrato, but there’s something so remarkably honest about Abigail’s performances I actually find myself looking forward to her buzzy vibrato notes.
These lovely people sing their truth, and the power of their music can’t be denied. More than one of their songs made me tear up, but it felt like healing, not grieving. Their rambling, improvised-sounding storytelling style may not be for everyone, but I know there are people out there who need to hear them, so this is for you. And me.
You can follow The Bengsons on their website and on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
