This past week, I was having some trouble sleeping (more than usual, I mean). I was looking around for something light that wouldn’t make me sad or anxious, and happily stumbled upon the series Little Voice on Apple TV. I didn’t know anything about it, but I knew I liked the main actress, Brittany O’Grady who I knew from White Lotus, and it seemed harmless enough. Suffice to say for the next few days, I went to bed late, not because I couldn’t sleep, but because I didn’t want to turn off this show!
“A love letter to the diverse musicality of New York, [Little Voice] explores the universal journey of finding your authentic voice in your early twenties.” – IMDB Summary
The amazing original music was penned by Sara Bareilles, whose voice and music I have long admired. It follows a young, aspiring singer/songwriter, and the characters, story lines, and especially the music are all a true gift. I loved it all so much, I was actually sad when it was over. The series was recorded in 2020, so the chances of another season are, I’m afraid, nil. I guess I will have to content myself with the glorious music and performances.
If you don’t have Apple TV, you cant listen to the remarkable soundtrack on Sara Bareilles’s playlist on YouTube.
