Alena Shymchonak

Hi, lovelies! I’m back, sort of. I confess the reposts and this week’s new posts were all set up before my knee replacement surgery. I thought I’d surely be ready to sit at a desk again by the two-week mark, but that turns out to have been a bit ambitious. I expected I’d be able to use my laptop by now, but I can’t stand anything putting weight on my leg yet, and sitting fully upright is also still on my to do list. I’m currently perched uncomfortably on my office chair trying to reply to comments and write this post before my knee locks up.

Here’s what I propose. Rather than bumming us all out with another week (or more) of reposts, I thought I’d compromise. I will still post something new every M-F (with the usual reposts on the weekends). However, the posts will be very brief. I will still be bringing you beautiful things, but I will limit my reporting on my subjects until sitting at the desk is once again realistic. Deal?

Today’s wonderful artist is Spain-based Estonian impressionist painter Alena Shymchonak. The artist doesn’t sell prints, only original paintings, and I find that really intriguing. You can learn more about the lovely Alena on her website and on Instagram, Facebook, and on the Tikk Gallery website.

Take care of you, Donna. I thought these were made out of cake frosting at first! They are fun paintings. And they look delicious.

I suppose you lose the impasto texture with a print, so maybe that’s why only original artworks are sold? Just take your time with your recovery, and do whatever you have to do. Remember joint replacement may be an everyday thing to the surgeons but it can feel like a major thing when it’s your joint it happens to! 🙂

I love the texture and the dynamism of these pieces.

You should do whatever you need to do to promote health, healing and your own wellbeing. If that means reposts or even taking a break entirely, I am sure I speak for most if not all of your loyal readers in saying that we completely understand and do not mind at all. The beauty and love you have sent out into the world can be returned to you. We all appreciate you and only want the best for you.

You are a lovely person to say that! The brief posts give me something to think about and something to work up to, so I’m going to do my best to keep up with them. Sitting is still hard, but it gets a little better every day…

Take your time! I’ve learned a lot about recovery (often furiously, but still counts as learning) and the time table reality is quite different than what the medical system claims 😉 Only yesterday I said, “I am just so worn out today” and my spouse took my hand, looked in my eyes and said, “It’s possible that recovery goes on longer than you want.”

I did not hit him, so I’m doing better! I am sure you’ll be STRETCHING and KICKING very soon.
