As are so many of my subjects, today’s marvelous artist was sent to me by Alison & Don of Adventures in Wonderland.
These are the wonderful fiber artworks by Australian artist Michelle Mischkulnig, A.K.A. Chelle Textiles. The artist (who will hereafter be referred to as Chelle, because I cannot continue to struggle through Mischkulnig) is involved in every step of her work, from weaving and dyeing her fabrics to cutting, twisting, painting, and stitching them. They are 100% her original creations, and I find them marvelous.
In addition to making her own art, Chelle also teaches fiber arts classes wherein she encourages her students to explore color and texture and to incorporate unexpected materials in their works to create something entirely their own.
You can follow Michelle Mischkulnig on the Chelle Textiles website and on Instagram and Facebook.
