8/31/15: Photographer Amanda Jones has spent the last two decades of her life documenting the aging of dogs. She follows her subjects from puppyhood through old age, and her portraits are full of love and understanding. And they’re not without humor, either.

The project began with Jones’ own dog. Her first canine love, Lily (pictured above) was with her for 16 years; years in which she moved across the country, bought her first home, had her first baby. Those were big years for Jones, and Lily was there for all of it.

“Lily, was a frequent model on my set. When I juxtaposed the imagery across her lifespan, I was moved,” says Jones. “I saw an opportunity to share similar stories through photographs.” -Amanda Jones on ThisDogsLife.com

I have done all kinds of posts about dogs over the last year and a half, but this is one of my favorites. There’s something profoundly soulful in these portraits that I like very much. Enjoy!
