What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Almost Nature

Rob Stern Glass

I often wonder who I would be if I’d been the child of artists. I’d probably be an accountant. (No offense intended to the accountants out there.) Today, we’re looking at the marvelous, imaginative glass sculptures by American artist Rob Stern. Stern was the son of two artists who encouraged his creative pursuits pretty much from birth. Though he spent some time during his early years performing with an Avant Garde theatrical company, he discovered his affinity for glass work during college and has pursued it ever since.

I am really drawn to how organic most of Stern’s work looks, as if we have stumbled upon a heretofore unknown bit of nature. The artist has studied – and taught – at nearly every reputable glass school on the planet, which explains his phenomenal level of skill with the medium.

“My aesthetic resides at the crossroads where humans and nature intersect. Between organic and angular, a space, which connects the temporary man-made to the pre-existing and eternal cosmos.”

You can follow Rob Stern on his website and on Instagram and Facebook.
