Etsomnia™ 353: Holiday Party

Etsom·ni·a (/etˈsämnēə/), noun, 1. a sleep disorder caused by obsessive Etsy browsing. 2. The surprising arrival of weird handmade merchandise ordered when one is only half conscious. (True story.) 3. An excuse for me to be an obnoxious, snarky New Yorker once in a while.

Hosting a holiday party? We are having a quiet year this time around, but when we’re planning a party, I headed straight to Etsy for entertaining ideas. And as always, Etsy delivers! Of course, in true Etsy style, some offerings were more tasteful than others. Honestly, though I was a bit bummed that I didn’t find too much to scoff at

It just wouldn’t be Etsomnia without at least one example of makers sticking Things to Other Things. Do you think they just collect all the sparkly broken detritus that always seems to be left at the bottom of the holiday decor bins and glue it all together? Broken ornament? Stick it! Old candy cane? Stick it! Dead holiday light string bulbs? Stick ’em!
I love this attractive, classy holiday garland every bit as much as I love this other garland which is as weird as the one above is tasteful. Blue and white felt garland by MatthewAndMae.

I love the idea of giving decorative oatmeal soaps as party favors! Finally, something useful! By GloryParty
If you encounter something like this horrifying “Christmas clown centerpiece” in the wild, I recommend you back away slowly. There’s no telling what it gets up to when you’re not looking.

I needed a trigger warning for that last photo. Judder.

I am also not hosting this year but I like the idea of the soaps as a little party favour and I really like that blue and white snowflake garland, especially since it could stay up longer than the Christmas season.
