Thanks to Tacky Raccoons for finding today’s gem!

Today, I’m thrilled to share with you the work of Jonas Wolf, A.K.A. Jonasquin, who arranges and sings pop songs in Renaissance and Baroque style. By day, Wolf is a music theory and ear training teacher at two universities in Germany, and he is relatively new to social media. In fact, his YouTube channel has only been around for a month, though he’s already got 14K subscribers. I think that’s a pretty good start, but let’s see if we can’t make him go viral!

One of my favorite assignments in high school was when we were tasked with re-arranging a song in another genre. I was an avid guitarist at the time, so I took Dueling Banjoes and arranged it as a classical guitar piece. It came out so well, I was asked to play it (as a private joke) at a wedding a few years later. Little did I know it would become a thing years later!

You can follow Jonas Wolf on the Jonasquin YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

What a wonderful combination of musical talent, knowledge of the history of music, and a great sense of humour. My 16 year old loves a particular YouTube musician who converts modern music into medieval style so I will need to show him this.

Thanks for the shoutout, Ms. Donna. As for BeeGees covers, I’m partial to the Jonathan and Darlene Edwards version of Stain’ Alive.
