Lancashire-based artist Briony Machin creates darling, happy-making ceramics and mosaics, and they’re giving me just the promise of spring that I needed!
“Years ago I read a quote which resonated with me so much. ‘Find what makes you happy, and use it to make other people happy.’ This has become the whole ethos behind my business. I have always loved anything creative and have really seen the benefits it can have on my own mental health, so I wanted to share this through my work, kits and workshops. Machin is also generous with her talent and her knowledge, and offers mosaic workshops in her hometown of Mawdesley. I’ll bet that would be fun!
I like how rugged her approach to mosaic is despite flowers being her subject matter. The pieces are pleasingly chunky and it’s effective even though flowers are traditionally seen as delicate.
