One gleeful thing.
When I found these photos, I said there was no way to look at them without feeling happy. Photographer Sophie Gamand’s series, Wet Dog, is a group of portraits of dogs caught mid-bath in the split-second before the obligatory shake that all dog owners know so well.
“The way the water plays with their hair in a very painterly manner, and their facial expressions as the water is poured on them creates striking portraits. The dogs are caught at a vulnerable moment, half a second before they shake the water off their fur. The series was done in collaboration with groomer and pet stylist Ruben Santana. Beside the aesthetic aspect of grooming, it is also a necessary routine for dogs and helps prevent diseases and infection.”
Painterly or not, I think they’re hilarious. You can also peruse her prints for sale.
And don’t miss her other (equally hilarious) pet photos, including projects called Opera Dogs and Dog Vogue.

I was just thinking about you!
I had a cat that loved water. He used to sleep in the bathroom sink with the water dripping on his head. He could turn it on himself if I forgot to leave it dripping for him. He was a little off, that one.

Bo loves the water so much that he tried to learn how to turn on the hose outside, luckily unsuccessfully. We’re in a drought.
