What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Music for a December Morning!

grumpyMuch like my August post “Not Just the Weepies,” today’s post is about one of my favorite playlists. This one is what I call Christmas Mellow, and it’s pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I have some predictable holiday music, but this playlist is reserved for unusual Christmas music, stuff that isn’t overplayed in department stores and on the radio, and I always have great fun looking for new additions.

I should mention that although I am not at all religious and spend a fair amount of time bah-humbugging, a fair amount of this music is distinctly Christian. I find it lovely nontheless!

  1. Mary, Did You Know? (Pentatonix)
  2. Please Be Patient (Feist)
  3. See Amid the Winter’s Snow (Annie Lennox)
  4. Something About December (Christina Perri)
  5. Breath of Heaven (Sara Groves)
  6. In the Bleak Midwinter (Renee Fleming & Rufus Wainwright)
  7. Love Comes Down (Shane & Shane) (Since this one isn’t on YouTube, I’ve replaced it with their version of First Noel, which is also fantastic)
  8. Winter Song (Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson)
  9. Christmas is Now Drawing Near at Hand (Steve Winwood)
  10. Hallelujah (Light Has Come) (BarlowGirl)
  11. Maybe Next Year (Meiko)
  12. Christmas Song (Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds)
  13. The Heartache Can Wait (Brandi Carlile)
  14. Christmastime (Smashing Pumpkins)
  15. Wintersong (Sarah McLachlan)
  16. December (Norah Jones)
  17. Mistletoe (Colbie Caillat)
  18. Joseph’s Lullaby (MercyMe)
  19. Winter White (A Fine Frenzy)
  20. Winter Snow (Chris Tomlin feat. Audrey Assad)
  21. Songs for a Winter’s Night (Sarah McLachlan)

This is a remarkably beautiful playlist. I was not familiar with Sara Groves and am blown away by her voice. Thank you so much for this musical gift.

Thank you! Tom managed to fix my TV so I get the internet on it and the sound comes thru the good speakers. So I will be playing this while I decorate my tree tomorrow.

Someone in my family is bemoaning they have no idea what to get me. I said “no problem.” There are some songs I want to download. Here’s the list! Merry Christmas and thanks for this great gift of music. You have such good musical tastes!
