What if you spent every day looking for One Beautiful Thing?

Take It Off. Take It ALL Off.

tryToday’s offering is a wonderful song and a very positive message from Colbie Calliat.

Take your makeup off
Let your hair down
Take a breath
Look into the mirror at yourself
Don’t you like you?
Don’t you like you?

The music video for her 2014 hit single “Try” makes a powerful statement about self esteem. There’s definitely a lesson to be learned here, and I’m going to try (see what I did there?) and take it to heart. I don’t think I’d have the nerve to do this on camera, but I definitely applaud her bravery. Of course it doesn’t hurt that she’s young and beautiful, but she lets herself be vulnerable in a genuine way, and I have great respect for that.

I have committed to spending part of every day looking for at least one beautiful thing, and sharing what I find with you lovelies!

  1. I see what you did there. It’s a message I still struggle with in my 40s. I can only imagine how hard it is for young girls these days- I hope they take it to heart, but I’m sure it’s difficult with all of the counter images they face daily. Come to think of it, the same counter images that we face daily…
