French Quarter Realty
612 Dauphine Street in New Orleans’ French Quarter doesn’t have much of what you’d call curb appeal. From outside, its 200-year-old facade is definitely looking its age. But sometimes, outward appearances can be deceiving. It may not look like $1.6 million from the street, but step inside, and it’s a whole different world.
It is one of the best uses of the current craze for open floor plans I’ve ever seen. The first floor is one big space, partially divided with bead curtains (!). The second floor is a double sleeping loft, entirely open to the first floor. While it’s short on privacy, it’s certainly long on style. The finishes, the sexy color scheme of grey and fawn and chocolate and steel, the exposed brick, and the grand, reclaimed, cast-iron banister on the sleeping loft all combine to make this one of the most gorgeous designs I’ve ever seen. No, with no doors or walls on the sleeping spaces, you probably wouldn’t want to live there. But what a magnificent place to visit!
Here’s the listing on Zillow. Just one more example of the silly things I’d buy if I were made of money!

I love the first floor, the one large bathroom and ESPECIALLY the patio. Undecided on top floor and it might just be the grey satin curtains. What is with the kitchen? It looks like a small trailer refrigerator and a toaster oven. I guess you don’t cook since they have all of the restaurants right around them. Spiral staircases are not easy to go up and down especially if you had too much to drink, which is what most of the people do there. hahaha I would only buy it if it was anywhere but the French Quarter. My experience there was not a good one. I can only imagine the asking price!!

You don’t need to imagine it. It’s $1.6 million. I enjoyed the French Quarter to visit, though I couldn’t imagine living there. You’re of course right about the correlation between blood alcohol and the spiral stair, but that’s why there are couches!

Nice to catch a glimpse. But not for me, even if I had 1.6.

I wouldn’t opt for the address but I looooove the interior and patio. I don’t think you could recoup that kind of price tag with Airbnb lets (plus you’d need a hell of a waiver or insurance policy with those stairs in that ‘hood), sadly.

Interesting colors. Going to be painting my house soon and I may have to think about that gray and fawn combination.

Isn’t that lovely? I also like a very pale gray with chocolate.

Hhhmm. My younger son has suggested an accent wall. Lots to think about. What if I sent you some pictures of my house?
