I love computer animation, but there is still tremendous value in the more traditional forms of of the art. Unfortunately, more and more young animators are bypassing hand-drawn and stop-motion process in favor of the (relatively) instant gratification of the less labor-intensive computer-based varieties. But all is not lost.

Clay Kids is a highly-acclaimed, international stop-motion claymation kid’s TV series. It looks pretty cool, but in my opinion, the best thing about it is that the animators are very interested in teaching kids about how they make their show. There’s an entire series of videos aimed at small children illustrating how they do what they do. I sincerely hope it inspires a whole new generation of stop-motion animators.
