Real-time videos of people creating painted art tend not to be super exciting, but the making-of videos and TikToks by Sharece Studios are a lot more interesting than just watching paint dry. Sharece makes squeegee art, something I would never have considered. It takes skill and experience and, I’m sure, tons of practice, but it’s eminently satisfying to watch. And the resulting abstract art is quite lovely.
I just love her technique. In theory, anyone with the right materials could give it a go, and I think squeegee art could be a fantastic rainy-day activity, though nothing I could produce would look anywhere as good as what Sharece makes.
I don’t know anything about the artist, but I hope we hear more from her in the future. Her skillful compositions and her creative use of masking and materials definitely deserve some attention.
You can follow Sharece Studios on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, and you can buy their original paintings on Big Cartel and their lovely prints and coloring pages on Etsy.

I want to try, but I hate the idea of wasting all that paint.

These are very satisfying to watch. The artist makes it look so straightforward and easy but I know the end results would look like a chaotic mess without careful planning. I prefer the ones that only use the squeegee as a tool. The screenprinting type are fun.

It’s a fascinating process, but it must create a lot of mess.

Some of the best fun involves mess. That’s what I tell the families of my preschool students when I send them home covered in various stains.
