This is the work of a marvelous 23-year-old macro photographer from Germany. Though the shutterbug doesn’t identify themselves, their slowed-down videos of not just intense macrophotography closeups but also the sounds each item makes are nothing short of hypnotic. I watched the first TikTok below, a closeup of a wooden match being lit, on a loop for at least 5 minutes before I realized woke up and moved on. The perfection of some of their loops is also mind-blowing, which is how I went down the match rabbit hole without even realizing it. This is a very talented videographer and editor!

I did read the comments and do a little research, and the general consensus is that the videos are likely made of a composite of macro photos or videos. The dramatic changes in focus would be pretty much impossible for any equipment in use today. I don’t care. They’re amazing either way.

I really recommend you watch these on as large a screen as you can with the sound UP! Hope you are as fascinated by them as I was.
