Many thanks to good friend Jess who turned me onto these lovely artists!
Today, we’re listening to the lovely three-part harmonies of the group known as The Henry Girls. Hailing from Donegal, the trio have been performing to sold-out crowds at Irish and folk music festivals all over the world. Their music has been described as a mix of traditional Irish and American folk music, and they led their traditional sound to plenty of contemporary songs as well. Their sound also incorporates American jazz and country, New Orleans-style zydeco, and even a bit of bluegrass. Whatever they’re channeling, it’s powerful and lovely.
The three sisters also play a wide range of traditional instruments including mandolin, banjo, guitar, harp, and ukulele along with fiddles, piano, and accordion.
You can follow The Henry Girls on their website and on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

They have beautiful voices and their close harmonies are perfection. I am very partial to folk music so I preferred their songs – like the first one you showcased – that lean more heavily into that genre but I would happily listen to them any time.

I feel the same. I always have a soft spot for folk music, so that was my take, too.

I loved their sound from the first notes of Cold and Rain, a folk song also covered by Jerry Garcia in the Grateful Dead and his other bands. I’ll definitely listen to The Henry Girls more on Apple Music.
