Tasmanian guitarist and composer Alan Gogoll is known as the inventor of a guitar technique known as bell harmonics. Listening to him play, it’s hard to believe this technique wasn’t always a thing, but according to the guitar world, he was the first. It’s incredibly satisfying, both to hear and to watch. Gogoll is clearly doing what he was born to do.
I got curious about what his sheet music would look like, and my mind was positively blown when I found it here. That’s a LOT of information. Here’s a video illustrating his technique up close.
Gogoll’s technique has a joyous brightness to it that feels like it’s altering my brain chemistry (in a good way). I have listened to Mulberry Mouse easily 20 times in a row, and I’m blissed out like someone slipped me a really good gummy. His YouTube channel includes long compilations of his music, and I definitely need to keep them handy for stressful days!
You can follow Alan Gogoll on his website and on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

I had never heard of bell harmonics and blissful is the perfect word.

It’s deeply lovely stuff. Somewhere is a scientist who can confirm that it lowers the BP…

It’s as hypnotic to watch as it is to listen. So much talent!

Yes! It’s almost as if he’s playing a guitar harp!
