A few years ago, I did a post about sangria recipes for “all seasons,” inspired by my recipe for autumnal sangria. Today, I’d like to explore the more-predictable-but-always-refreshing summer varieties.
First, I’d like to impart my never-fail Grapefruit Sangria recipe. I developed it when we were counting calories (and when aren’t we…). I cut out a lot of sugar by using unsweetened juice and replacing the traditional sweet liquor (like brandy) with Fresca. Makes it extra refreshing, too!
White Grapefruit Sangria
- 2 bottles white moscato
- 1 bottle red moscato
- 1 bottle sauvignon blanc
- 2 cans Fresca
- 3 cups unsweetened white grapefruit juice
- 3 cups grapefruit vodka
- 2 ripe peaches, cubed
- 1 orange, peeled & sliced
- 1 red delicious apple, cubed
And now onto the recipes I found on the interwebs. Enjoy!
- Blueberry Lemon Sangria by Nikki Sips
- Citrus Rosé Sangria by Table for Two
- Authentic Spanish Sangria by Fork and Twist
- Peach Sangria by Delightful Mom Food
- Melon Ball Sangria by Fake Ginger (odd name, good recipe)
- Sangria Sunrise by Jennifer Stewart
- Rosé Sangria by Black Foodie
- Americana Sangria by Only Prettier Design
- Chardonnay Brunch Sangria by McBride Sisters
- White Peach Basil Sangria by Bliss Victoria Magazine
- Grilled Fruit Sangria by Whitney Bond
- Pear White Wine Sangria by Boulder Locavore
- Sunset Sangria by One Hope
- Marionberry White Wine Sangria by Oregon Berries
- Hell or High Watermelon Sangria by 21st Amendment Brewery
- And for those who’d rather skip the booze, Virgin Sangria by I Heart Naptime
Happy sipping!

Um, that sounds like THE BOMB. Even though I’d have to treat every bit of it for sulfites it sounds totally worth it–and worthy of a specifically curated outfit worn while consuming. I’m thinking huge sunhat, big 70s sunnies, a dagger sleeve caftan….mmmmmm

I can see all of that for you! And you could just make the white versions, right? To avoid sulfites? They get me, too.

Interestingly, all wine has sulfites–as does vinegar, anything coconut, anything bleached as part of the processing, most dried fruits, all things processed potato…the list goes on and on. However, a mixture of 1 part food grade hydrogen peroxide (super cheap on Amazon) and 3 parts water , when added to liquid/non solid things (this has given condiments back to me, even) will deactivate the sulfites. They sell this as “wine drops’ and it comes in teeny, eye drop size bottles, for like, $5 a bottle. So, I make my own.
All to say it’s doable for any wine product. Cheers!
