Happy birthday to reader DigitalDance99!

Today’s amazing, high-energy music videos are giving me life! This is the UK-based band known as Jungle, and their new single Let’s Go Back is tons of fun! Their music is giving me familiar vibes and their music videos are deeply original and very satisfying to watch! I’m truly surprised that I haven’t heard of them before. The band was founded by front-men Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland. The pair have been besties since the age of nine when they lived next door to each other. They taught themselves to make music as children, and even at a young age, they knew they wanted their music to be an all-encompassing experience rather than just musicians standing on a stage. They’ve been very involved with the making of their music videos, and their stage shows exhibit every bit as much choreography and effort. The band is particularly well known for their single-shot dance videos, and between the choreography and the camera work, the videos are absolute masterpieces.

“It’s a visual world, it’s a sonic world, and the live show is a massive part of that, too. It feels to me like we’ve created this kind of weird, modern electronic, funk-soul-disco, dance opera… it makes us quite emotional seeing the songs realized in such an amazing way by these amazing dancers.”

You can follow Jungle on their website and on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

I didn’t think I had heard of this group but it turns out I have heard a couple of the tracks. To be honest, I think I like the vibe their music generates more than I perhaps like the specific tracks – I fear it is a sign of me getting decrepit – but I did love the music videos. The film-making is great and really captures the choreography. I actually just sent the first video to my 18 year old because he and I like to analyze one-take and fake long-take films.
