12/31/14: In December of 2012, the three remaining members of Led Zeppelin were among those celebrated at the 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors. During the ceremony, Heart performed Led Zeppelin’s iconic 1970’s rock anthem, Stairway to Heaven, and they brought down the house. The band was visibly moved, as were the President, First Lady, and all assembled.
The performance is nothing short of epic, including a full choir and orchestra. Also playing with the Wilson sisters was Jason Bonham, the doppelganger son of the late, great Zeppelin drummer, John “Bonzo” Bonham. It’s a thoroughly moving performance, whether the song was part of the soundtrack of your formative years (as it was mine) or you’re hearing it for the first time (in which case, welcome to Earth). Also, it rocks. HARD. Seems like the perfect choice for a New Year’s Eve. Hope everyone’s having fun!
